YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (YAP)

2017-18 Application Process:

YAP Position descriptions are below, please review and then click on the "YAP 2017-18 Application" button at the bottom to apply!

YAP Positions are currently FULL, however, when openings come up we check in with our youth volunteers as well as past applicants when filling the positions. 

  • If you haven't already done so, you will be asked to come in for an interview and all interviews are held at the Jamestown office.
  • New hire orientations are also held at the Jamestown office.  

 

Position Description:

Youth Apprentices will work two days per week in our after school programs as teacher assistants and attend mandatory Friday meetings with the Teen Programs Coordinator 3 times per month from September 2017-May 2018.

  • HOURLY RATE: $14/hr
  • HOURS PER WEEK: 6-7hrs

Youth Apprentices will be placed at one of the following After School Program Sites:

  • Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8 Community School
  • Cesar Chavez Elementary (K-5)
  • James Lick Middle School (6-8)
  • Loco Bloco Community Classes (12-24yrs old)
  • Longfellow Elementary (K-5)

 

Friday Trainings will include:

  • Behavior and Conflict Management
  • College and Career Readiness
  • Cover Letter & Resume 
  • Financial Capability
  • Lesson Planning
  • Mindfulness
  • Professionalism
  • Social and Emotional Learning
  • Youth Development 101/102

 

 

YOUTH IN CHARGE (YIC)

2017-18 Application Process:

YIC Positions are currently FULL, however, if a spot opens up, we look at past applicants and we keep the applications open!

  • If you haven't already done so you will be asked to come in for an interview and all interviews are held at the Jamestown office.
  • New hire orientations are also held at the Jamestown office.

 

Position Description:

Youth In Charge will need to attend two meetings per week twice a month from September 2017-June 2018 including 3 required Community Action Model (CAM) Trainings in September 2017, October 2017 and March 2018.  All meetings are paid and will include food.

  • HOURLY RATE: $14/hr
  • HOURS PER MONTH: 8-10hrs

Youth In Charge (YIC) will be trained to become Emerging Community Leaders through the Community Action Model (CAM) within the SF Tobacco Free Project (TFP).

Possible meeting locations will be:

  • Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8 Community School
  • Cesar Chavez Elementary (K-5)
  • Jamestown Community Center Office
  • SF Tobacco Free Coalition at 25 Van Ness Ave.

  • Project Management
