YOUTH IN CHARGE (YIC)
2018-19 YIC Application Process:
School Year Position descriptions are below, please review and then click on the "2018-19 YIC Application" button at the bottom to apply!
There are 20 positions for High School Youth.
Step 1: Apply using the online form below.
Step 2: If you are new to Jamestown or Loco Bloco, you will receive an email and be asked to attend a group interview. (All interviews are held at the Jamestown office.)
Step 3: If you are offered a position, you will be emailed with details on orientations. Please respond via email if you accept the position along with which day you will attend orientation; ALL orientations will be held at the Jamestown office.
Youth In Charge will be trained in curriculum which will focus on the Community Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol (CMCA) Curriculum. Youth will learn and use community organizing, public speaking/facilitation and leadership skills. Youth will need to attend 18-20 mandatory paid workshops; YIC runs from September 2018-June 2019.
Youth In Charge meetings will meet in different locations, so a monthly calendar will be shared with participants during their orientation.

YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (YAP)

The 15 paid positions for High School Youth are FULL. However if you wish to volunteer, with a chance to get hired if a spot opens up, please apply for a volunteer position.
Step 1: Volunteers who are new to Jamestown will be interviewed.
Step 2: You will receive an email with the volunteer form and be asked to attend an individual or group interview. (All interviews are held at the Jamestown office.)
Step 3: If you are offered a position, you will be emailed and given details regarding your placement. Please respond via email if you accept the position along with which day you will attend a volunteer orientation.
Step 4: All volunteers will need to attend orientation, which are also held at the Jamestown office as well as at the site you wish to volunteer at. Please email Kevin at email@example.com if you have any questions.
School Year Position Description:
Youth Apprentices and youth volunteers will work or volunteer 2 days per week in our after school program as teacher assistants. Only YAPsters need to attend the mandatory Friday meetings 3 times per month as well as check in with their mentors weekly. YAP runs from September 2018-June 2019.
Youth Apprentices will be placed at one of the following School Sites:
Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8 Community School located at 3351 23rd St., SF, CA 94110
Cesar Chavez Elementary located at 825 Shotwell St., SF, CA 94110
James Lick Middle School located at 1220 Noe St., SF, CA 94114
Longfellow Elementary (K-5) located at 755 Morse St., SF, CA 94112
Summer 2019 Position Description:
This year we are excited to host programs at three sites: BVHM (K-5) James Lick middle school (6-8) and a location near Longfellow (K-5). Summer Programming will run 6 weeks this year beginning on June 10 - July 19. Trainings will begin on April 26th and every Friday after from 10am - 12pm. Please read below the description for the various positions and time commitments for professional development that are offered this summer. We have limited spots and ask that you rank your choices so that we can offer a spot that works for you. Spots are not guaranteed.
Positions for this summer:
Afternoon Summer Playhouse Assistant Counselor (Kinder-2nd or 3rd-5th): 25 hours/week. Program hours: 12pm - 5 pm.
Afternoon Summer Voyage Assistant Advisor (6th-8th): 25 hours/week. Program hours: 12pm - 5 pm.
Sports Camp Counselor (Kinder- 5th at Longfellow 9am - 12pm and/or BVHM 1-5pm @ Playhouse) Leads structured sports instruction for participants
