Girls Got Goals:
Where Confidence Takes the Field
In many communities, Black and Brown girls from low-income and immigrant families face significant barriers to participating in sports. Whether it’s the cost of organized leagues, a lack of inclusive spaces, or harmful gender stereotypes, these challenges limit access to the joy, connection, and personal growth that sports can provide. Girls Got Goals (GGG) was created to change that.
Through our free after-school soccer league and Summer Sports Camp, GGG offers high-quality programming for girls ages 8–14. Led by experienced coaches—many of whom are women of color and former Jamestown participants—GGG fosters a powerful environment where girls are seen, supported, and encouraged to lead.
On the field, girls build soccer skills, strength, and stamina. Beyond the game, they gain something even more transformative: a deep belief in themselves. Through intentional workshops, team-building activities, and culturally responsive mentorship, nearly 200 girls each year grow in self-confidence, develop strong peer relationships, and experience improved physical and emotional well-being.
More Than Just a Game: Girls Got Goals Featured on CBS News
For nearly two decades, our Girls Got Goals after-school league has been empowering youth in San Francisco's Mission District. Recently featured on CBS News, the segment highlights how soccer is "more than just a game" for our players; it's a feeling and a deep connection to their heritage
As Program Director Ariel Escada shared, having the World Cup land right in our backyard gives these young athletes something they don't always get: access, connections, and a glimpse of the endless potential out there, from scholarships to new opportunities. We are incredibly proud of our athletes and the community we've built together.
