Summer Programs

Summer at Jamestown is all about discovery, connection, and joy. Our enriching summer programs offer youth from kindergarten through high school a safe, supportive space to explore new interests, build friendships, and continue growing outside the classroom. With a blend of academic support, creative expression, outdoor adventures, and cultural exploration.

Summer Programming at Jamestown Community Center

For many working families, summer is more than a break from school, it’s a critical time when children need safe, engaging, and supportive environments. Our full-day summer programming removes financial barriers and ensures all young people—regardless of background—have access to academic support and enriching experiences.

Each day is thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of our students. In the mornings, we focus on supporting English Language Learners through targeted literacy and math instruction, helping students strengthen foundational academic skills. In the afternoons, youth engage in hands-on enrichment activities like art, STEM, sports, and field trips that spark curiosity, build confidence, and create space for joyful connection.

Summer Voyage

Summer Voyage is Jamestown’s flagship summer leadership experience for middle school youth. Launched in 1995, the program was founded on one bold idea: let youth design their own summer. That pioneering spirit still drives Summer Voyage today, where 6th–8th grade students engage in hands-on, project-based learning that builds confidence, leadership, and a sense of agency.

Participants work in teams to develop essential life and leadership skills—consensus decision-making, budget management, public speaking, and project planning—all while shaping their own summer journey. Each group manages a weekly budget and presents their plans to a panel, gaining real-world experience in communication, advocacy, and accountability. The summer culminates in a public youth-led showcase, where students present their learning and growth through creative, team-designed projects. The experience ends with a 3-day, 2-night camping trip, giving youth the space to reflect, celebrate, and build lasting memories.
