The Devastating Impact of COVID-19 on the Latinx Community In San Francisco
Jamestown has stepped up to lead efforts to support those hardest hit by the current health crisis and the ripple effects on income, housing, nutrition, and education.
Here are some ways we are making a difference, working to connect families to basic needs and essential services while also working to engage students in this challenging time.
Meeting the basic needs of our students and their families
Jamestown has taken a leadership role with the Latino Task Force, working to provide 7,000 families a week access to food, shelter, financial support, COVID-19 testing, and healthcare services. Over 125 Jamestown families have received financial relief funds totaling $113,000
Strengthening the school day and afterschool connection
Jamestown team members are essential links for student support with our school day partners, and lead over 300 students in virtual after school classes. We have distributed over 200 laptops, 2,000 books, and 100 backpacks to Pre K-8th graders.
Providing in-person Community Hubs for our Most Vulnerable Students
Jamestown is providing in-person education and childcare support for our highest need families.
We invite you to assist Jamestown youth and families. Your support will ensure we have the resources to maintain these critical community programs. Please consider the following options to help us achieve even more:
$500 provides a family with financial relief
$250 enables 15 hours of tutoring time
$100 ensures distance learners have the technology they need to stay connected
$75 covers one Loco Bloco drum and dance class
$50 purchases supplies for Community Learning Hubs
