Community Schools

Jamestown’s Expanded Learning Programs transform schools into community hubs, providing academic support, enrichment, and wellness services. Through a whole-child approach, students access tutoring, arts, sports, and leadership programs that reinforce learning and personal growth. By fostering strong community partnerships, Jamestown ensures every student has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

The Jamestown Community Center and its partnering schools proudly bridge the gap between students, parents, and their communities by bringing additional enrichment programs directly to school sites.

Community Schools transform public schools into places where children, youth, parents and community members engage in positive, educational, enriching and healthy activities during school hours and beyond.

These activities not only supplement the school day but nurture the skills necessary for students to succeed both personally and academically. The goal is to close the gap between school and community needs through strong partnerships, ensuring more resources are available and services are better coordinated to achieve positive outcomes for our youth, families, and communities.

Services Include:

  • Phoenix Risers: Morning care

  • Life Skill Training

    • LST is a substance abuse and violence prevention program for 5th and 6th graders, developed in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. It equips youth with the skills to resist alcohol, drugs, and tobacco while promoting positive development and reducing high-risk behaviors.

  • After-School Enrichment

  • Girls Got Goals: Girls soccer programs for grades 5th - 8th

  • Linked Day: Behavioral Health and Wellness Support

  • Summer Camps

  • Case Management, referrals, and sign-up support for community and health services
